Energy Efficiency

Why your house behaves the way it does — and what actually changes it. Diagnostics, building science, and the reasoning behind the work, in plain language.

Start With the Symptom

Almost every call we get starts with a complaint rather than a request for insulation. These articles work backward from the symptom to the cause:

Measure, Then Fix

The difference between a real energy-efficiency upgrade and an expensive guess is measurement. A blower door test quantifies how much air moves through your envelope. A home energy assessment puts that number in context alongside the attic, the heating system, and the water heater.

From there the sequence is consistent: air seal first, insulate second, verify after. Weatherization is the umbrella term for that whole process.

Incentives

As a NYSERDA Participating Contractor, we can tell you which improvements your home may qualify for under the NYSERDA Comfort Home Program. Eligibility and incentive amounts depend on the home and the package of work installed.
